It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Royane Joe Skye of the Ayonwahta family. His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 11 am at Onondaga Longhouse. Our condolences to the Ayonwahta family, it is a great loss to us all.

Cayuga Bridge work stops as MTO fails to consult

CAYUGA-Work on the Cayuga Bridge spanning the Grand River came to a stop this morning after the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) refused to meet with the Haudenosaunee Confederacy Chiefs Council’s (HCCC) planning department when the Haudenosaunee Development Institute (HDI) learned its environmental monitors were being refused access to the work site. The Loss Of A Royanni Touches Us All

Our hearts are heavy tonight in the Grand River Territory of the Six Nations. We have lost one of our strongest standing trees with the passing of Pete Skye. Our Confederacy was made rich by the wealth of culture, language and knowledge this condoled Onondaga Chief carried and he is greatly missed. Please keep the Longhouse of One Family in your thoughts as our minds are very close to the ground right now.

The family has released details of services for Onondaga Deer Clan Chief Peter Sky who passed away Wednesday November 5, 2014 at his home surrounded by family. . He is resting at his home at 1890 4th Line Ohsweken, after 7 p.m. Thursday. Funeral Service and Burial will be held at Onondaga Longhouse Six Nations on Saturday November 8, 2014 at 11 a.m.
