Shé:kon skennen’kó:wa ken?

I trust all is well with everyone and it will be nice to get back to hugs and getting together soon…

I am pleased to say that the Fort Erie Native Friendship Centre (FENFC) is preparing the schedules for ZOOM Beginner Language Learning again for the following languages:

  • Anishnaabemowin
  • Kanyen’kéha Language
  • On^yota’a:ka language
  • Gayogǫho:nǫˀ Language
  • Onöndowa’ga:’ Language
  • Skarù·rę’ Language
  • Onoñda’gega’ Language

The classes will run from September 2021 to December 2021 OR January 2022 to April 2022 (but not both). We are still working with the Instructors to finalize the dates and times.  However, FENFC does know that the classes each will run for 15 weeks and for 3 hours per week.  Additionally, the Kén:tho tsi Kateweyénhstha (I Study Here) Mohawk workbooks published by Fort Erie Cultural Centre Inc., (ISBN: 978-1-7776319-0-1) are being edited into all six of the Haudenosaunee Languages to be used in the beginner classes.

I would also like to introduce you to the Seven Generations Rekindling the Fire Language Program Coordinator — Ms. Sara Cotter.  She is getting her feet wet as we speak and she has created a Facebook page with all this information:

More exciting news to be share in the coming months from the Seven Generations Rekindling the Fire Language Program.
